Tottenham Hotspur were brilliant in the Barclays Premier League last season but failure to adequately strengthen their squad this summer could haunt them next season.
The North Londoners must secure key signings before the start of the new PL campaign. Rival teams have already reinforced their squads with multiple signings but Pochettino has been inactive.
As far as the transfer rumors are concerned, Portuguese source Correio da Manhã (press image provided below) recently claimed that Tottenham are interested in Sporting CP star William Carvalho, who has a release clause of €45million in his contract.
The Portuguese source have mentioned that the Primeira Liga club are going to listen to offers around €35m- €40m for their prized asset.
We believe that this rumor is absolutely insane and there is no way Spurs could actually be interested in the 25-year-old defensive midfielder. Why?
Spurs have already got two top class play breakers in their squad. Eric Dier was brilliant in the holding midfield role in the 2015-16 campaign.
Moreover, Mauricio secured the signing of Victor Wanyama last summer and the Kenyan international proved to be solid in the midfield. Not to forget, in the last two PL campaigns, Spurs had the best defense under the Argentine boss.
In such a scenario, Spurs really do not need to sign another defensive midfielder and the link with Carvalho makes no sense. Spurs have also been linked with Sporting’s Adrien Silva (via O Jogo), who is more of a creative central midfielder. In your opinion, do Spurs need William Carvalho?
