Manchester United hired the services of Victor Lindelof and now, they have an over-crowded central defense.
Few days back, Mirror reported that the Red Devils are prepared to offload England international Chris Smalling, whose ability has been questioned by United boss Jose Mourinho.
Now, according to a report covered by Daily Mail, Tottenham are plotting a move to sign the 27-year-old defender from the Old Trafford club in the summer transfer window.
Smalling signed for the Red Devils when Alex Ferguson was in charge of the club and he has won the Premier League title twice. The former Fulham center half had an injury hit campaign with United last time around and he could only start 13 games in the league.
Overall, Chris featured in 36 games, scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists. His current contract with Manchester United will expire in 2019 and he is earning (Star) around £80,000-a-week ($102,000-a-week).
As per the provided Daily Mail link, the North Londoners are also interested in the likes of Ben Gibson and Michael Keane to strengthen their central defense. In your opinion, is Chris Smalling good enough to improve Tottenham’s already brilliant back line?
