Arsenal are looking to sign a new striker if reports in the media are anything to go by and Torino’s Andrea Belotti has been linked.
Two days back, we covered a report (via The Sun) claiming that Wenger wants to seal the signing of the Italian international who has been in fantastic form this season for the Serie A side.
Today, Torino’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has claimed that Arsenal made an offer of 65 million euros for the 23-year-old center forward but the move was rejected because it did not reflect the value of the player (Sky).
Petrachi also mentioned about a release clause which is around 100 million euros (Goal).
Arsenal are not really renowned for splashing big money in the winter transfer window and the above mentioned offer is a record sum i.e. more than what they paid to lure Mesut Ozil. Therefore, it is quite unbelievable that the Gunners have made such an offer.
As per the link provided above, sources at Arsenal have however told Sky Sports News HQ that no bid has been made for Belotti.
The Azzurri forward has featured in 19 games for the Italian club in all competitions this season, scored 14 goals and also provided 4 assists.
This season, Arsenal have mainly utilized Alexis Sanchez as the center forward and the Chilean international has been their best player.
Giroud has also proved to be fruitful after returning from his injury. Adding to that, summer signing Lucas Perez has impressed by directly contributing in 10 goals (6 goals and 4 assists) in just 7 starts for the North Londoners.
In your opinion, do Arsenal need a new out and out striker?
