Arsenal are not alone in the race to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez. They now face serous competition from PL rivals Manchester United.
The Red Devils will collide against Chelsea in the Premier League today and will be hoping to return to winning ways.
As far as the transfers are concerned, Jose Mourinho has already spent huge sums to reinforce his squad. In the summer transfer window, the Portuguese manager splashed heavy cash to sign a new center half in the form of Eric Bailly from La Liga side Villareal.
Now, reports suggest that Mourinho is ready to battle the Gunners and sign £40million ($49million) rated Uruguayan center half Jose Gimenez (Mirror).
The 21-year-old South American star is a key member of Diego Simeone’s squad. He played 27 league games for Atletico Madrid last season, scored a goal and also provided an assist.
Gimenez also played a pivotal role in the UEFA Champions League campaign last term but did not feature in the final against Real Madrid.
In all fairness, United have more than enough quality center halves and they must look to improve their attack in the winter transfer window.
