Spurs Offered $28m and Winger to Sign Star – Latest Twist

Jose Mourinho ChelseaSpurs reinforced their defense and attack in the summer transfer window but could not really strengthen the midfield department.

The North Londoners tried to sign (Daily Star) Southampton’s star holding midfielder Victor Wanyama by offering $28 million and record signing Lamela in the final days of the transfer window. However, the Saints rejected the move.

As per the provided Star link, there is a twist in the transfer saga and Chelsea are now ready to make $31 million bid to sign the Kenyan international.

Tottenham’s current boss Mauricio Pochettino is the one who signed Wanyama for the Saints and the 24-year-old midfielder remains their record signing.

Southampton had the second best defense in the Premier League last season and Victor was a key member of the squad. He can provide a solid cover in front of the back four.

Mourinho already has one of the best defensive midfielders in his squad in the form of Nemanja Matic. Adding Wanyama will surely make the midfield department even stronger.

So, it wasn’t REALLY that Spurs only offered £10 million…or was it £8 million…LoL

I believe that the minute Pochettino left Southampton for Spurs the Saints Chairperson, and maybe the board, decided they just absolutely 100% would not sell one single player to Spurs. Kinda funny, really, that they go on about not selling to teams they are competing with: they have sold half of the population of Southampton and district to Liverpool. And yet Spurs have finished above Liverpool in five of the last six seasons. Spurs have finished fifth or higher in five of the last six seasons. And Liverpool have finished seventh or lower in three of the last six seasons. I wouldn’t mind if they had just been honest and said they were spiteful and bitter that Pochettino had made a move up and so wouldn’t sell any players to him.
