With not much time remaining in the transfer window and just a week before the premier league kicks off again, United must secure important signings.
The Red Devils are short of quality in central defense, midfield as well as in the attacking department.
Hence Louis van Gaal is ready to step up and secure his signings as soon as possible to reinforce the squad for his first season as United manager.
According to latest reports, Manchester United are all set to win the race to sign Dortmund and German star Mats Hummels for the central defense.
Having lost out on signing Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal who has joined Barcelona, United are keen to secure Hummels.
The Red Devils believe that a bid of €25m will be enough to hire his services and that price is surely a bargain as Hummels is arguably one of the best defenders in the world at the moment. His heroics played key role in helping Germany lift the World Cup.
As far as midfield is concerned, Arturo Vidal has been a long term target but up till now United have been frustrated in his pursuit.
Hence, according to Daily Star, Louis van Gaal has targeted former Arsenal star and current Barca midfielder Alex Song as the alternate if they fail to sign Vidal from Juventus.
Song has mainly warmed the bench for Barca in the presence of Busquets, Xavi and Fabregas (joined Chelsea) and may want to move back to premier league as well.
Last but not the least, as previously reported, United are also closing in on signing Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina to strengthen their attack.
Signing the mentioned stars is easier said than done, that too without CL football. Can United somehow sign them? We shall see.

song will be an ideal figure for utd as Carrick is injured. beside, he proved that at arsenal. its just due to lack of game time at barcer and also he would be financially sounding to utd.so I hope lvg would act fast to get him and he will really deliver.
Alex Song would be a big step backwards so i hope it would be Vidal. However, if that don’t come off would rather wait till january and try bringing in Kevin Strootman. As for the central defender spot. My first choice would be Matt Hummels but Dortmand have named him club captain today for the season ahead. So things don’t look too promising. My plan B would be Roma’s defender Bentia i think he is just as good and would be a good signing. I also believe we need a cover for Luke Shaw at left back, and i see the versatile Daley Blind more than a great back-up. As for the the attacker/wing position i would choose Marco Reus over Di Maria/Cuadrado each and everyday. However, if worst comes i would choose Di Maria over Cuadrado for the simple reason, he is a CL winner, he had a good last season for Real, he plays in a better league with better players and has been tested at the world stage!
