The Return Of the King – Chelsea Fans Comment

The Return Of the King – Chelsea Fans CommentChelsea are looking for a striker lately in the transfer market and astonishingly reports suggest that Jose Mourinho wants legendary forward Didier Drogba to return to Stamfrod Bridge. The Portuguese signed him for Chelsea in 2004 and since then Blues have seen no better striker playing for them.
The Ivorian currently plays for Turkish club Galatasaray and his record as ususal remains impressive. However, at the age of 35, he surely is a veteran and a move to Chelsea will be for short term, something that Chelsea do not really need especially when they do have funds to buy a top quality forward.
However, the question is mainly intended for Chelsea fans to comment. Do they really want the return of King Drogba or Chelsea should rely on the current crop of strikers for next season?
The former Marseille player was the last man to score over 20 league goals for the Blues. Since then, Chelsea have been badly missing a clinical finisher despite spending millions on new forwards.
Torres is yet to move into double scoring figures as far as a single premier league season is concerned and has not been able to justify the 50 million pounds price tag. 36 league games last season and the Spaniard could only net 8 times.
Chelsea supporters thought that Newcastle talisman would come in and be as prolific for the blues as he was at tyneside. Sadly, he could only score 2 goals in 14 league appearances for the Blues whereas he netted 13 times in 20 games for the magpies last season.
Romelu Lukaku was their best striker last season but that on loan for Westbromwich Albion. He for one has the traits that can be compared with Drogba but will the Belgian be given the chance under Mourinho. He deserves it though.
Drogba on the other hand scored 8 times and provided 2 assists in 11 appearances for Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in 2012. After moving to Galatasaray, the Ivorian scored 6 goals and provided 6 assists in 14 appearances.
They quality of Drogba is inevitable and perhaps he can still play at the highest level but at that age, mind says Blues should not sign him but Chelsea fans may have a different idea in their hearts.
In your Opinion (Chelsea fans), Should Chelsea re-sign King Drogba?

We realy love him, but age is against him. So I believe he can’t handle the possition anylonger, because premire league is getting tougher. we missed you Didier.

  2. mavuto kamanga says:

they have to sign him and he is still playing better than the strikers we have

  3. buddha9 says:

Its hard to know how seriously to take this –its not called the silly season for nothing — if it is being done its so Drogba the great can pass on stuff to new strikers like lukaku but i don’t think its really happening.

  9. Fidel says:

Mourinho appears confused from the start. Why did we miss out on cavani who had shown interest in joining the Blues. Why making a bid for Rooney at a ridiculous amount that could have fetched us Cavani, Falcao or Lewandoski. Rooney is certainly not the type of striker we need now at Chelsea. Rather than bring Rooney with his controversies and apathy , let us have Drogba back. If not for any other reason, for his passion for the club. What is more! He is still scoring and rises up to the occasion .

    • alibaba says:

and where did you get the info from that we actually bidded for cavani(except you believe in those junks on transfer gossip blogs) .if mounriho said he liked rooney’s direct style does it construe we going to sign him?i trust the judgement of our board and jose.they are as passionate about chelsea just as we are.and i believe they are doing everything in the best intrests of the club mate.ktbffh.up chelsea

  10. Gladwell says:

  11. @AlaniRasheed says:

We have special coach and we need special striker too bust our young striker moral for next season, it can be Drogba or any world class striker but drogba can still do it forget about age. Blues till I die

  12. PSR says:

Better we concentrate on Lukaku. Drogba is a great player, but how long we linger on like this ?

  13. And so it begins ! Abramovic has told Mourinho he wants to see more investment in youth, what does he do? he tries to bring Drogba back instead of trusting in Lukaku who given the chance with Chelsea’s midfield behind him could easily be a 30 goal a season CF at Chelsea. What is it with Jose and trusting and investing in youth ? We all know he can win trophies with an unlimited cheque book, this is going to be an interesting season !!
