Relegation Battling Villa Face the Champions

Relegation Battling Villa Face the ChampionsChampions Manchester City will face struggling Villa side tonight. The relegation battling Lambert’s men are in horrendous form lately and have only won once in their last six league outings. Surely City are favorites to win however, Lambert has other ideas as he thinks his side can actually beat the visitors.
On the other hand, City’s manager Roberto Mancini knows that only wins will do from now onwards till the end of the season if they are to have any chance of retaining the premier league crown. Once again, United did not slip up and lead their rivals by a decent margin of 15 points.
Aston Villa are currently 18th in the league and a win or draw against Manchester City will take them out of relegation zone but that seems highly unlikely.
City have easily won their last 2 games and cannot afford another slip up and defeating Chelsea at the Etihad stadium means that their confidence is sky high.
Villa have been heavily ineffective in both attacking and defensive department. They will face 28th league game tonight and amazingly have only scored 26 goals i.e. not even one goal per game ratio.
For worst, they have conceded over fifty goals as well. Still their manager is upbeat and came up with a statement such as:

“We want to beat Manchester City.”

The thinking is positive but not much realistic. Similarly, City defender Gael Clichy has his sight set on somehow making a comeback like last season to retain the premier league title. Again, the thinking is positive but not much realistic as he said:

“We’ve done it before and we will continue to look back to last season as an inspiration. Yes, they are 15 points ahead, but we have our game on Monday and they can drop points in the coming weeks so why not?”

City have already defeated Villa this season as they thrashed the opponents at the Etihad stadium 5-0. As City have the best defensive record in the league and a dangerous attacking lineup, one can expect that the champions will have an easy outing against Aston Villa and will be comfortable winners.
