With just 22 points from 17 games, the very same stats under Hodgson, Liverpool lie 12th in the premier league. However, even though the results for now are not right but the future of this great club is surely bright as yet another starlet, Raheem Sterling signs a long term contract for the Reds.
The news came out as a blessing for the Liverpool supporters who have been mesmerized by the performances of this young talent and after a lot of speculation over the past few weeks, sterling finally put pen to paper much to his delight. Sterling claimed:
“There’s not much more that I could have asked for. I’m just really grateful to be at such a big club like this.”
“Playing at such a big stadium with such a big atmosphere and with unbelievable fans is brilliant.”
Sterling has already featured for the reds no less than 25 times this season and last month he became Liverpool’s youngest star to start for the national side.
Having turned 18 recently, his best days are ahead and Liverpool fans know that they have got one of the best youngest talents in their side.
Since Brendan Rodgers took over at the club in summer, he has been able to lock numerous stars on long term contracts. S perhaps being the favorite letter, Suso, Suarez, Shelvey, Skrtel and now Sterling have signed long term contracts.
Adding to that, much versatile defender Daniel Agger also committed his future to the club in summer which is an indication that the club in time will shine again.
Such players are extremely vital to bring success on the field and Liverpool have made it clear that they will not let their best players depart, and will continuously build for the future.
Yes the results in the league have not been impressive but the team is taking time to adjust. Under Hodgson the reds were largely clueless but that is not the case for now, they need some reinforcements during the winter transfer market especially in attack and the squad will be up to compete with the best soon.
