Liverpool have Made Shock Move to Lure Mascherano

Liverpool have badly missed a specialist defensive midfielder in the team since the departure of Argentine international Javier Mascherano.
The South American star was rock solid for the Reds under the management of Rafael Benitez. Soon after the departure of the Spanish boss, Javier opted to move to Barcelona and he has won every major trophy with the Catalan giants.
At the moment, Jordan Henderson is the main holding midfielder at Anfield but the England international is not a specialist play breaker and Klopp must sign one in the winter transfer window.

At Barca, Javier has mainly played in the central defense but this season, he has warmed the bench more often than not and reports suggest that he has offers to leave the club.
According to Diario Gol, Mascherano has three offers on the table and quite shockingly, one of them is from his former club Liverpool.
The La Albicelesete star’s current deal with Barcelona will expire in 2019 and it has a release clause (Sport) of 100 million euros (£89million). In your opinion, should Liverpool sign Javier who will turn 34 next year or look for a long term solution?

  1. RED PHIL says:

Five million quid for somebody of his age is just about acceptable. Barca should give him a free transfer to get his wages off their books. The size of his so-called release clause is a joke.
