Contact Made – Liverpool Look to Sign Clement Lenglet

Jurgen Klopp DortmundLiverpool must strengthen their defense in the winter transfer window if they are to have any chance of winning a silverware this season.
The Reds failed to sign a center half in the summer transfer window and therefore, they have suffered big time.
Virgil van Dijk was the main center back linked with a move to Anfield in the summer but as per the latest reports going on in the media, a new name is in the lime light.

According to Daily Mail, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona have made inquiries to hire the services of French international and Sevilla star Clement Lenglet.
The 22-year-old defender featured for 90 minutes against the Merseysiders in a contest that ended 3-3 last week. The young center half has not only impressed in the defensive third but also in the attacking third.
This season, Clement has netted twice in twelve La Liga appearances for Sevilla. As per the provided Daily Mail link, the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in the Les Bleus defender, who has a release clause of 28 million pounds ($37million) in his contract.
Klopp should push to secure his signature to reinforce the back line and solve the defensive dilemma that he has been facing since joining the Anfield club.

Atleast Klopp is looking at a CB other than VVD which is something !!! There are a lot of decent CB’s out there as I’ve stated before as I feel like we could do with atleast 2 new CB’S to join the club as it would be great to carry 2 sets of CB partnerships but other CB’s we should be looking at still in my View are as follows Stefan De Vrij and even if he signes The new contract his Buy out clause is said to be around €26M still a great bargain !! One of my favourites is Kalidou Koulibaly and at 6″4 or 6″5 is a Monster both in the Air and to get passed with great physicality needed in the premiership and one area we have been prone to is crosses from corners or free kicks so would be a great Addition and premiership ready !! What about
J Tah who is another top CB and still very young with a release clause of only €24M and has Barcalona sniffing around !!
Another youngster with Barcalona sniffing around is Ajax’s Ligt
Who would be another good signing but someone Klopp could mould but I wouldn’t have him as a starter right away !!! Ofcause there is VVD but my only concern is competition of Chelsea and Man City even though it’s still being said from those close to VVD that he still only wants a Liverpool Move but the other 2 clubs may continue to push the price up suggested to be around the £70M !!! There are another 2 or 3 CB’s I could mention but those above are hard to go past plus with us conceding CAN will be leaving in the summer for Juvo I expect I would sell him in Jan for anything we can get for him as what he’s asking for ie salary of that of Coutinho so around the £175K pw that’s not going to happen so we should go all out for another German midfielder available for Free in the summer where a lot of top teams are waiting to go for him so let’s offer Schalke a decent figure in Jan or offer the Player a top Salary and that’s Leon Goretzka again he’s young and an excellent midfielder better then Can in my View as Klopp is looking to change the quality of the squad while also looking at Players for the Long term so they Play and grow together….
Here’s hoping to a great transfer Jan and i still believe Klopp is the right man to lead our great club back to greatness and both title contenders and European Honours !!! ps would love to read your thoughts on which 2 or 3 CB’s you feel we should be chasing ?? YNWA

Ashley, I love your article, most well said except for the statement that klopp is the man to lead our club to greatness. I doubt so. Klopp to me is overrated! Agreed he has attacking sense but he lacks game changing tactics, unable to read games, unable to effect right substitutions, and more ridiculously, unable to organize a defense for three years. Liverpool players lack utmost concentration in marksmanship and and positioning and klopp hasn’t provided solution in three years as well. As regards the two defenders I would love order than VVD, Matt Hummels and Khalidou Koulibali are a great pair. Or Stefan de vrij and Niklas Suele will be a great wall.

Ashley, I also think a good coach should know by now that Henderson isn’t supposed to be LFC captain. He’s too average to be a skipper of a club as huge as Liverpool. He can’t motivate himself, how then does he motivate his team when they are down?
