Liverpool sold Mario Balotelli to French side Nice last summer and now the Reds are linked with a Nice star in the form of Jean Michael Seri.
The Merseysiders have been looking to sign Naby Keita from Leipzig but the Bundesliga club do not want to sell their prized asset.
Now, according to Guardian, the Anfield club have accepted that the deal for the Guinean international is more likely next summer and as far as this summer is concerned, the Merseysiders have contacted Nice to inquire about signing Seri.
Like Keita, the 26-year-old Ivorian star is a versatile talent, who can operate in the defensive and central midfield. Moreover, he has been productive in the attacking third as well.
Last season, in 34 league games, the African star directly contributed in 16 goals (7 goals and 9 assists). This season, he has already provided 2 assists in 3 games for the French club.
Not to forget, Coutinho’s future is up in the air and Lallana is out injured and in such a situation, Klopp must reinforce the squad before the transfer deadline ends this month.
As per the provided Guardian link, the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Everton and Swansea have also shown interest in Michael, who is rated around 40 million euros ($47million).
