Arsenal have already signed a top class center forward this month by hiring the services of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
Still, they are linked with another quality French striker in the form of Real Madrid’s Benzema.
Earlier this month, we covered a report (via Don Balon) claiming that the Gunners have put forward a proposal to secure the signing of the former Lyon striker. Now, another Spanish source have come up with an intriguing story.
According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid are looking to reinforce their squad and certain key stars are lined up.
The Spanish source suggests that Ronaldo is irreplaceable and Bale would command a mammoth fee of 100 million euros, therefore, the only way to sign a superstar is by selling Karim Benzema.
Diario Gol have mentioned that the Los Blancos have evidence that Arsenal could present a last minute offer to lure the 29-year-old Les Bleus star. Wenger is looking to replace Alexis and if the Chilean leaves then the Arsenal boss wants Karim to join.
Benzema’s cuurent contract with the European champions will expire in 2019 and he earns €298,000-a-week (Star). This season, he has started every game for Madrid so far (4), scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist.
The Spanish source have further mentioned that Florentino Perez has his phone ready to sign a new No.9. We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
