Manchester United need a solid defensive midfielder in their team and once again they are targeting England international and Tottenham star Eric Dier.
In the winter transfer window, Jose Mourinho opted to sell a natural DM in the form of Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton. Now, he must sign a proven quality holding midfield star in this summer’s transfer window.
According to the likes of Telegraph and Guardian, Manchester United are prepared to step up in their efforts to agree the signing of Eric Dier, who has always been Jose’s priority target in the position.
The 23-year-old star is naturally a defensive midfielder but in the last campaign, Mauricio Pochettino mainly utilized him in his back line. The Argentine manager opted to use Victor Wanyama as his main holding midfielder.
Last season, Eric Dier featured in 48 games for the North Londoners, scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists.
As per the provided Guardian link, the £50m-rated star ($64million) wants to play in his preferred position and knows that Manchester United can offer him that role.
If he does move to Old Trafford, we can expect him to line up with either Ander Herrera or Paul Pogba in the center of the park under Mourinho. In your opinion, is Dier worth £50million?
