From Portugal – Man Utd have Moved in to Agree €60million Brazilian Star Signing

Manchester United are linked with numerous highly rated stars and a new name is now in the lime light in the form of Brazilian international and Benfica goalie Ederson.
The Old Trafford club’s first choice goalie De Gea is once again linked (via Don Balon) with a move to sign for Real Madrid. Mourinho is already looking for his replacement and the likes of Jan Oblak, Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel have been linked with the Red Devils recently.
Now, according to Portuguese source O Jogo, Manchester United have moved in and are already in talks to hire the services of 23-year-old Samba star Ederson, who will eventually replace David De Gea.
The former Rio Ave FC goalie has been in fantastic form for the Primeira Liga giants in the current campaign. Benfica are currently leading the league and are three points ahead of rivals Porto.
He was mainly a bench warmer last season and broke into the first team in the second half of the campaign. The South American star was able to keep 6 clean sheets in 10 league games for Benfica.
This season, Ederson has so far featured in 25 league games for the Portuguese club and only conceded 12 goals. Moreover, he has helped the team keep no fewer than 16 clean sheets as well.
As per the provided O Jogo link, back in January, he signed a fresh deal with the club until 2023 and it has a release clause of 60 million euros. However, Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira is prepared to sell him for just 30 million euros.
In your opinion, is Ederson good enough to replace De Gea?

What big deal! Degea also had his share of miseries when he came to old trafford. so one cannot judge players by what they were and what they could be in future. Who knows Ederson could probably fill that void left by Degea. As the saying goes, ” Every dog will have his day” One day Degea might have to hang his boots!

It just shows that clubs like Man U have more money than sense. This Ederson guy wasn’t making the first team last season for Benfica – but if he was any good then Man Utd’s scouting system should have detected him then and put a bid in at that time. Instead they prefer to buy “finished product” and pay massively over the odds for that. They are not the only ones of course.
I think it’s lazy and vulgar – but that’s probably because I support a smaller football club than Man U who have no choice but to rely on good scouting, careful selection and good management of players to get results – not huge wads of cash thrown around.
