Not Van Dijk – Klopp Ready to Agree £54million Star Signing for Liverpool

Manchester United and Liverpool must reinforce their defense in the summer transfer window to have any chance of challenging for the Premier League title in the next campaign.
As far as the transfer rumors are concerned, the arch rivals are battling to sign Uruguayan international and Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez.
According to Spanish source Don Balon, Mourinho and Klopp are interested in signing the highly rated defender but would want significant reduction on the 45 million euros price tag.
Back in November, the Sun covered an exclusive report and claimed that the 22-year-old defender has a release clause of £54million in his current contract.
The young South American center half has not become a regular starter for Atletico Madrid yet but has shown that he is a quality player. He has featured in 22 games for the Spanish side this season, scored one goal and provided one assist as well.
Jurgen Klopp DortmundLiverpool need a solid CB more than Manchester United. The Reds have conceded 40 PL goals (32 games) in the current campaign, whereas, the Red Devils have conceded 24 times (30 games).
We recently covered a report (via The Times) claiming that Klopp wants Virgil van Dijk as his priority signing. The Dutch international has been at the peak of his game this season with Southampton.
In your opinion, should the German manager sign Van Dijk or Gimenez?

This story gives me some hope that Klopp is looking at other CB’s as in my View the figures being suggested for Van Dijk is silly money because if your going to spend £40-£50M on a CB he needs to have all the qualities of a
The Complete CB and Van Dijk has one big thing missing from his many qualities and that’s PACE and Pace is what we need at the back as we aren’t the quickest at the back and with Strikers getting Faster and Faster
We Need a CB with pace otherwise when you play against a quick Striker your CB’s start to Drop Deeper and Deeper knowing that teams will play the ball over the top allowing the Striker to use his Pace !!!
I am also hoping that Klopp is looking for 2 new CB’s and atleast 1 LB because if Klopp sells Sakho as expected
We will need to cover his departure also ?? I’m Hoping Klopp rethinks the Sakho decision who’s looking great on loan at Palace but if he doesn’t abide by Klopp rules then he has no option but to move him on.

I remember the 0-0 at St Mary’s and Van Diijk was outstanding. One thing I remember was him catching Firmino. I don’t think pace is a weakness for him.
