Liverpool have a brilliant attacking line but Klopp needs a world class out and out center forward if he wants his team to challenge the best of sides in the continent next season.
The Reds are in pole position to qualify for the next season’s Champions League and by doing so they will attract the best of stars in the world. One such star is French international and Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
According to the latest reports (Mirror via RMC), Liverpool are prepared to offer big money to secure the signature of the 25-year-old star, who has been one of the top goalscorers in France in the past few seasons.
The report says that Liverpool are looking to beat Arsenal to his signature by promising him Champions League football. At the moment, it looks highly likely that the Gunners will not quality for the Europe’s elite competition.
Lacazette has so far netted 24 goals in 27 league games for Lyon this season. Only PSG star, Edinson Cavani, has scored more league goals (30) than him.
Overall, he has featured in 40 games for the Ligue 1 side in the current campaign and directly contributed in 35 goals (31 goals and 4 assists).
Both Suarez and Sturridge scored over 20 league goals for the Merseysiders, when they ended up finishing second back in 2013-14. Since then, no Liverpool player has netted 20 league goals in a season. Alexandre has the quality to solve that conundrum for Klopp.
His current contract with Lyon will expire in 2019 and it has a (Mirror) release clause of 60 million pounds (€72million).
