Arsenal have to break the bank and change their pay structure to sign world class players in the summer transfer window or else, they will not progress next season.
Few days back, we covered a report via Evening Standard claiming that the Gunners have offered a salary worth £300,000-a-week to sign a new deal with Alexis Sanchez. Those rumors have been dismissed by Arsene Wenger.
If reports in the Spanish media are anything to go by then the North Londoners have offered big money to sign French international and Real Madrid star Benzema.
According to Don Balon, Arsenal have offered Karim a deal that will double his current salary. As per Daily Star, the 29-year-old striker is currently earning around £275,000-a-week with the Los Blancos. Double that and he will get around £550,000-a-week.
The Gunners might be serious about signing Benzema because they badly need a proven quality goalscorer but it is highly unlikely that they will pay the above mentioned salary. Their current highest earner is Mesut Ozil, who gets around £140,000-a-week (Star).
The Les Bleus star’s contract will expire in 2019 and Don Balon claim that he does not like the fact that Real Madrid are looking at other strikers and hence, he may look to move abroad.
Wenger has lacked a clinical finisher since the departure of former captain Robin van Persie. Karim is a proven quality striker, who can finally solve the strike-force dilemma at the Emirates.
However, his goal-scoring stats have not been impressive this season. In 24 league games, the former Lyon center forward has only netted 9 goals.
