After inconsistent performances this season, Arsene Wenger is under serious pressure and he might not be at Arsenal in the next campaign.
Still, as far as the transfer rumors are concerned, the French boss is already targeting players to reinforce his squad for next season.
According to reports (The Sun), Wenger wants to hire the services of in form Everton star Idrissa Gueye in the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old Senegalese international has impressed big time for the Toffees since completing his move from Aston Villa. Capable of operating effectively in the central/defensive midfield, he has been compared to Chelsea star N’golo Kante (The Sun).
This season, Idrissa has featured in 23 league games under the management of Ronald Koeman, scored one goal and also provided two assists.
His contract with the Merseysiders will expire in 2020 and as per CIES Football Observatory, the African star is valued around €15.3million.
The North Londoners already have more than a few holding midfielders in the squad. Not to forget, they secured the signing of a top class defensive midfielder in the form of Swiss international Granit Xhaka last summer.
Wenger also has the likes of Coquelin and Elneny who can effectively perform the role of a DM. In your opinion, do Arsenal really need to sign Gueye?
