Liverpool are Favorites to Agree $230,000-a-week Star Signing

Jurgen Klopp DortmundLiverpool are heavily linked with a move to sign Colombian international and Real Madrid star James Rodrgiuez.
Few days back, Mirror claimed that the Reds are confident of securing the signature of the former Monaco playmaker if they finish in the top four and qualify for the next season’s Champions League.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then Liverpool are favorites to sign the 25-year-old South American attacking midfielder.
Don Balon provided an update which basically explains why Liverpool are favorites and why they are so confident about signing James when other top European clubs are also interested in signing him.
The Spanish source claim that the likes of PSG, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Juventus want Rodrigues but not even a single team has come close to meeting Madrid’s asking price. The reigning European champions want 60 million euros for Rodriguez and so far, no offer has exceeded the mark of 40 million euros.
However, Don Balon further claim that Liverpool are well positioned and for now, the Reds are the only side who are willing to break their transfer record and meet the asking price of 60 million euros.
The Reds are ready to offer 50 million euros up front and the remaining in add ons to hire his services.  The Spanish source adds that Zidane does not want James at the club next season and even the player cannot afford to warm the bench another year.
This season, in 24 appearances (only 14 starts), the ex Porto attacker has netted 5 goals and provided 12 assists.
The Merseysiders will most probably have to meet/exceed James’ current wages to secure his signature. At the moment, Rodriguez earns (Star) £185,000-a-week star ($230,000-a-week) i.e. more than Liverpool’s top earner Philippe Coutinho (Star).
