Tottenham needed to sign a cover striker for Harry Kane last summer and they did so by luring Vincent Janssen from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.
The Dutch international has failed to shine for the North Londoners under the management of Mauricio Pochettino and as it stands, Spurs still need to sign a quality striker to solve the dilemma.
Last month, we reported (via Mirror) that Spurs want to sign former Man United star Javier Hernandez who has a release clause of 33.5million pounds in his contract ($41million).
The Mexican international was in top form for Bayer Leverkusen last season but he has been inconsistent this season. Therefore, the Bundesliga side want to sell him and reports suggest that his signing can be sealed for a cut price of $26million (SportBild).
Spurs are back in the title race after beating Chelsea at White Hart Lane but they need to strengthen the squad to win the ultimate prize. Moreover, the battle for fourth place is tough as well.
Star striker Harry Kane suffered a malleolar injury earlier in the season and missed 10 games. In his absence, Janssen failed to step up and Spurs ended up winning only 3 games.
The England international is extremely important and if he gets injured again, it will not come as any surprise if Spurs fail to finish in the top four.
In such a scenario, Pochettino must splash the cash and sign a quality striker this month and a proven Premier League goalscorer in the form of Chicharito perfectly fits the bill.
