The story made it to the Portuguese media yesterday and O Jogo have provided an update mainly about the figure that Klopp will have to pay to sign the 25-year-old star.
As per the provided O Jogo link, Benfica signed Jimenez for a fee of 22 million euros and now president of the Portuguese giants Luís Filipe Vieira wants over 60 million euros (£51million) for the prized asset.
This means that Liverpool can sign Jimenez but for that they will have to break the Portuguese transfer record (sale).
Jimenez can play in multiple attacking positions but he is definitely not worth 60 million euros, hence, Liverpool should look elsewhere to strengthen their strike-force. Sturridge suffered an injury against Sunderland so it will be wise if Klopp looks to sign a center forward this month.

When we’ve already out-scored just about every other team in the league whilst our defence continues to look average at best I don’t want another penny spent on a striker.
Defenders, defenders and more defenders please . . . with another DEPENDABLE keeper also on the wish-list as well! I don’t want to win games 5-3, I want to win games 3-0 and we won’t if we continue to look decidedly ‘iffy’ every time the ball crosses into our half.
One miserable point from games against Burnley, Bournemouth and, now, Sunderland. Pathetic. To me, defensive solidarity begins with a keeper we can rely on and, in Mignolet and Karius that simply ain’t gonna happen, is it? Some people say we shouldn’t go for the current England Keeper, Joe Hart, but if you don’t rate the current England keeper who on Earth do you rate????? Not the world’s best but, somehow, I can’t see United, Chelsea, Bayern or Spurs giving us their keepers.
Then we need TWO dominant central defenders who are error-free. At this point imagine a useless defender we bought from Southampton a few years ago and who has not looked at ease since then. Therein lies the problem. Dodgy keeper, dodgy defender. Add to that a midfield player playing LB and an attacking midfielder trying to get to grips with playing DM and the problems mount up.
We seem to have an amazing ability to ignore problem areas whilst spending fortunes on attacking midfielders with Grujic – currently injured? – barely having had a moment on the green stuff.
We either cure the defensive problems or we will struggle to make the top four.
Your analysis is apt bro. Thanks for your incisive points. I still think Klopp is overrated. He’s certainly skilled at managing and motivating players but he lacks ability to read games and effect game changing tactics or players swap. He’s really poor at that. Inability to know that Lucas is supposed to be playing in division 2, or that Emre can is not good enough for first team and Lovren is meant to be a back up and not first team player is sure lacking.

Can is so so average! Just a bit of improvement on Lucas who arguably is the least skilful Brazilian player ever. I wonder why Klopp even keeps Firmino in the game at times when he’s plays below expectation while Sturidge and Origi, who could get goals are brought in very late when nothing can be salvaged. Same way he keeps Can and Lovren on many occasions when they have played horrible football. That’s why I doubt Klopp’s tactical prowess. Nonetheless, he’s a excellent man manager who bring out the best in players, like Mourinho..
