Once such player in the limelight is Benfica playmaker Goncalo Guedes. The Red Devils have been tracking the youngster for quite some time.
According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, United have scouted Goncalo on numerous occasions and (reportedly) were present to watch him for Benfica against Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League contest.
Last season, the 19-year-old starlet was impressive for the Primeira Liga giants. In 36 appearances, the teenage attacker scored seven goals and provided no fewer than ten assists.
This season, in 9 league games, he has netted one goal and provided three assists so far.
According to MEN, the Portuguese international has a mammoth release clause of 52 million pounds in his contract.
Guedes is not the only highly rated youngster that United are pursuing. Recent reports have indicated that Mouirnho is eager to seal the signing (via Mirror) of Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez who has a release clause of 56 million pounds.
