Premier League: A Three-Horse Race for the Title?

New PL LogoLast season, Leicester City did the unthinkable as they held off the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to win the Premier League title. This season, there will be no such anomaly – the title race already looks like it is taking a familiar shape.
Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have both had positive effects at their respective clubs in Manchester whilst former Italy head coach Antonio Conte is working wonders for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. With three of England’s elite clubs back at the top, the Premier League title race could be very competitive; we take a look at their chances of glory.
MANCHESTER CITY
Guardiola and City are a match made in heaven. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has already started to change and mould City’s style of play and the Blues are looking very strong going forward. He has managed to get the best out of their attacking outlets so far, even appearing to reinvigorate Raheem Sterling. The England international netted twice in City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United in their most recent Premier League encounter and looks to be full of confidence now that Pep is at the helm.
If City continue to improve and dominate fixtures, it is hard to see Guardiola’s men falling short in their pursuit of the title. As of August 30th, the Blues are one of the leading candidates (2/1 at time of writing) for the crown and you can find odds here at Betway’s website. There will be plenty of twists and turns along the way but the early signs are positive for City.
Pep is already one of the most successful managers in the world and he could be the difference maker as City look to get back to the top of English football.
CHELSEA
Conte’s passion and hunger is clear for all to see and Chelsea fans will be very excited at the thought of getting their hands back on the Premier League title. If nothing else, their start suggests that the crown is certainly within their grasp this season… Diego Costa has already played a key role for the Blues and he will continue to do so throughout the campaign. The controversial striker netted two late goals in Chelsea’s opening two fixtures to help maintain their 100% record.

In fact, the entire Chelsea team as a whole look ready to do battle and compete at the top – and that is down to Conte’s mentality. The Italian is a natural winner and he will be keen to bring the winning mentality back to Stamford Bridge after a hit-and-miss campaign. Some believe that Chelsea will struggle to maintain a title bid unless they invest but no European football at Stamford Bridge could actually give them the edge in the title race.
On current form, the Blues look back to their best and the rest of the Premier League will be wary of facing Conte’s new-look side in the near future.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Jose Mourinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba – three reasons why United fans will be confident of winning the title this season. The Red Devils moved quickly to dismiss Louis van Gaal at the end of the 2015/16 campaign and Mourinho has adjusted to life at Old Trafford. Right now, United are playing some fantastic football and Mourinho’s men will only get better as time goes on. The 13-time Premier League champions have missed out on the title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired but they look set to lay down a serious challenge this year.

Ibrahimovic and Pogba have both brought a buzz to the club and fans believe that Mourinho can take United back to the top. Whilst another decade-long era of domination is unlikely, a genuine push for the crown will see the fear factor return to the club. United have had to spend a lot of money to get into this position and Mourinho can ill-afford to fail.
The Red Devils have plenty of potential and who knows, a 14th Premier League crown may be just around the corner.
