Four Real Madrid Stars in Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament

Ronaldo Euro 2016 trophyPortugal were crowned the Champions of Europe after beating France 1-0 in the final of Euro 2016 last night.
Fernando Santos’ men were solid at the back, especially in the knock out stages of the competition and even the top scoring French side could not score a goal against them.
Here are the top performers that make our Team of the Tournament. Four Real Madrid stars make the list.
Goalie
In the goal, Sporting CP star Rui Patricio gets the spot ahead of a number of goalkeepers who performed brilliantly in the competition. Patricio made some crucial saves in the KO rounds and kept the highest number of clean sheets (4) in the tournament.
Defense
As far as the defense is concerned, Real Madrid star Pepe was arguably the best defender and won the Man of the Match prize in the final.
German defender Boateng was solid at the back for the World Champions and also scored a goal, his first for the senior national side. Last but not the least, Italian defender Bonucci makes the list. The Azzurri star also scored a goal and provided an assist in the competition.
Midfield
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey was brilliant for the Welsh side. The versatile midfielder scored a goal and provided 4 assists in the competition. Wales badly missed him in the semi-final contest against Portugal.
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos was influential for the World Champions and was mainly responsible for pulling the strings in the center of the park. Even in the defeat against France, the former Bayern Munich star effectively controlled the play from the midfield.
Attack
There were more than a few top quality performers as far as the attack is concerned, hence, we have selected five attackers in the Team of the Tournament.
Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann were brilliant for France. The West Ham star scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in the competition. On the other hand, the Atletico star finished the tournament as the top scorer with 6 goals and also provided 2 assists.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Nani provided the main firepower upfront for Portugal. The duo directly contributed in 10 goals for the Seleccao.
Lastly, the world’s most expensive player Gareth Bale makes the list. The Los Blancos star scored in every group game for Wales and was influential in the KO rounds as well.
