Liverpool Moved Close to Clause of "Aggressive & Strong" Star – Must Sign

Suarez Third Goal vs CardiffLiverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has an over crowded strike-force at his disposal but still needs to add a quality striker. It will not come as any surprise if the likes of Benteke and Balotelli leave Anfield in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool badly miss Luis Suarez and there is no direct replacement for someone like the Uruguayan talisman but the Merseysiders must lure a top goal scorer.
The Reds are linked with a quality striker in the form Sporting CP and Algerian star Islam Slimani. According to reports in the media (Noticias Minuto), Liverpool moved close to the 30 million Euros release clause of Slimani by offering 25 million Euros to sign him but the Portuguese side rejected the offer.
In all fairness, the Reds must activate the clause and sign the “aggressive and strong” star (HITC) who scored 31 goals in 46 games for the Primeira Liga side last season.
As per the provided Portuguese source, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester are also interested in signing the 27-year-old striker. Moreover, Slimani’s release clause will expire on 30th June and then Sporting can demand a higher fee. Hence, Liverpool must act fast if they want to get their man.
In your opinion, should Liverpool splash the cash and sign Slimani?

There is no doubt that Liverpool need a proven goalscorer and not just some who on the face of it has “potential”, but 25 or 30 million for a 27 year old coming from a foreign league, at least to me, sounds like a lot. However, I trust the leadership knows what it is doing and if it is expected his price with rise even more on expiration of his release clause, then it might be a good price afterall. Get the deal done!

Liverpool need a reliable goal scorer. the current crop of strikers are not good enough due to injury problems. however, for a price of 25 to 30 mil on a 27 years who will have no sale on value. it is very expensive. Need to look elsewhere for a top striker

  3. LANZ says:

SLIMANI is a good striker better than benteke and others.
Don’t think is expensive at €30m provided he can keep on delivering loads of goals for us.

I have never heard of this guy and he is already 27, is he maybe a one season wonder.I think LFC should go after the Brazilian Gabriel(the new Neymar) just 19 and almost world famous already.I think they would be able to get him for the money being asked for the algerian and be able to pull in £100m in a few years time, makes more sense to me.

when i see such comments, i understand why LIVERPOOL FC are in this shit situation !!!!!
keep being happy with BENTEKE , it’s already enough for you

Watched a video of this guy and he looks fast, strong, good in the air and direct. Ticks just about any and all of my boxes and, let’s admit it, this sort of money isn’t a lot these days if we can hope to get three or four good years out of him! When was the last time we got four years out of an attacking import? Ian Rush, from Chester?

I want the League Cup next season. I do not want to talk of age. Afterall a lot of players at 30 and above are setting the football pitch on fire consistently with superlative performances. The point is, sign Islam for €30 or €31 million and add more potent strike options that is needed.

Yeh i remember Ian Rush a story about Rushie banging on Paisley’s door asking why he wasn’t being picked for the first team.Bob told him start scoring goals son and the rest is history.Rushie and Ronnie Whelan were put in the first team at 19 years old and the phenominal King Kenny was signed and LFC became the best in Europe. My point is Slimani is already 27 so maybe is set in his ways.If he has to adjust to a new league and maybe play a different way to what he is used to it may just blunt his attacking threat much like when we signed Rickie Lambert. He looked a good player at Southampton ,came to us ,had to adjust and disappeard.Rushie,Fowler natural finishers, the closest i have seen are Sturridge and Origi we should persevere with them rather than keep chucking money at players who might or might not make us better. However as i am always saying i trust Klopp and will be happy with whatever he goes with.

guys, believe me he will be a good signing, he’s strong, very smart, agressive and have a killer finish and he never miss with his head, talking about the age 27 is not that bad looking at how the club wasted much money on bowlshit like Benteke and ballo… , Slimani is not a carroll or a Benteke, he’s way different,

    • rob nicol says:

I’m not saying the boy’s not good but if we are going to spend that sort of money then spend it on a striker that has proved he can score goals at any level in any league such as Higuain or Edin Zdeko. The algerian guy hasn’t got time on his side to learn playing in the Premier league is all i’m saying and if he doesn’t hit the ground running he could end up being another Balotteli.Spending 25m on a future free transfer is not doing the club any good at all.

Kloppi! Splash the cash and sign him. You will don’t regret that. He will made Liverpool happy like Riyad Mahrez did it for Leicester. He’s a Monster striker with an awesone striker instinct.
Believe me, He’ll outshine Marque-Name in the PL. I hope Liverpool will splash the cash… €30m is many money but he’s really double so worth. Slimani can make the difference who others they are more worth of the paper didn’t make it.
