Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to reinforce all key departments this summer and as far as the defense is concerned, an African star is heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are edging closer to signing Ivory Coast center half Eric Bailly for a huge fee of $43 million.
The 22-year-old fast and strong defender was a pivotal member of the Villarreal side that finished fourth in the Spanish league last season and reached the semi finals of the Europa League as well. Last season, Eric featured in 25 league games for the Yellow Submarine.
Daley Blind was Smalling’s main central defensive partner under Louis van Gaal but the Dutch international’s future at Old Trafford is in doubt (Sky).
Hence, if Bailly does end up signing for the Red Devils, expect him to form a central defensive partnership with Man United’s Players’ Player of the Year Chris Smalling.
Here is how Man United will line up with Eric Bailly.
