Terms Agreed – Liverpool Close to Sealing Deal with 'Outstanding' Star

Liverpool FCLiverpool need to improve the overall quality of their squad and supporters will argue that they need a new goalie as well. However, if reports are anything to go by then Simon Mignolet is going to be with the Reds for the long term.
According to reports (Insidefutbol via Het Laatste Nieuws), Liverpool are close to sealing a new deal with the Belgian goal keeper who has already agreed terms of a 5-year contract.
Express claim that the deal will be finalized when Mignolet’s representatives are going to be in England next.

Mignolet has been criticized on many occasions but it will be fair to say that he has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent players.
Last season, he was named Liverpool’s player of the year. Not to forget that the former Sunderland goalie kept the highest number of PL clean sheets in 2015.
Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claimed that Mignolet was “outstanding” (Liverpool Echo). On the other hand, Klopp claims that Simon is one of the most “smartest” goalies (The Guardian) he has worked with.
In your opinion, is Mignolet good enough for the Reds or they must sign a new No.1?

It has to be said that Mignolet has his moments and he had some games containing exceptional stops, however, he has also had a number of games where he has floundered and been found wanting. Case in point, today’s game with Arsenal. As far as I am concerned, two of the three goals were not helped with poor goalkeeper coverage. Being beaten at your near post is a cardinal sin for a goalkeeper. The second goal was in my opinion, a ball that Mignolet should have come and made his own. Yes, I am aware that the 6-yard box was busy, but considering where the ball was placed, Mignolet should have come and closed down his angles.. But overall, a point is a point, especially when you are playing a top of the league team.
