After letting go out and out forwards like Radamel Falcao, Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie last summer, Man United splashed heavy cash to lure Anthony Martial from Monaco on the transfer deadline day.
Martial has quickly settled in with the Red Devils but Louis van Gaal still lacks depth in his strike-force.
In such a scenario, the Old Trafford club should look to sign another striker in the winter transfer window and a certain Brazilian like Alexandre Pato could be the answer.
The 26-year-old Samba star was once a proven striker in Europe with AC Milan. However, injuries hampered his progress and he returned to Brazil. Manchester United were interested in signing Alexandre in the summer (Telegraph).
Now, Metro cite reports in the Brazilian media claiming that the Red Devils can sign Pato for $28.5 million. The Selecao star has scored 115 goals for the club and country and has the quality to be a hit in the Premier League. He scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 34 games last season.
Man United may have to act swiftly if they want to sign him because rivals Arsenal are also linked with a move for Pato (Metro).
