4-1-2-1-2: How Liverpool will Line up Under Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp DortmundIt will be intriguing to see how Liverpool will line up against Tottenham in their first game under the management of German coach Jurgen Klopp.
During his time with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Klopp mainly utilized the lone striker formation of 4-2-3-1.
However, at Liverpool, Jurgen has got more than a few quality strikers in the side such as the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke and in form Danny Ings. Moreover, 4-2-3-1 formation can be perfectly implemented with two out and out wide players and Liverpool lack them as well.

In such a scenario, Klopp has utilized 4-1-2-1-2 diamond formation with Dortmund and that might be implemented with Liverpool as well.
The selection is going to be interested as well. Expect German international Emre Can to start in his natural defensive midfield position. Hendo and Milner may start with him in midfield.
Here is how Liverpool will line up under Jurgen Klopp when everyone’s fit.

I’m going to go with a slightly different proposal of where/who would play if everyone was fit. The Prem has become adorned with the much preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and almost all the clubs have now switched to that. Flood the midfield seems to be the order of the day and having a 4 or 3 in the centre seems to get you over-run. The key will be fast transitions and I think the team will look more like:
    ………………………Migs
    Clyne….Louvren….Sahko….Moreno
    ………….Hendo……….Can
    Firminho……….Studge…….Couts
    ………………..Benteke
Louvren will get to play on his favoured right side – he is not a left sided defender, and we will see him improve. He didn’t become rubbish over night! The movement of the three attacking players crossing lines, playing narrow and direct will scare the bejeezuz out of teams, with Benteke used as a battering ram. Ings can switch with Studge. Studge can switch with Benteke. Milner can be switched with Can or Firminho and Couts can switch with Lalana to freshen things up. We have two good players for most positions (except full back!)
