The North Londoners have strengthened their defensive line by signing three stars in the form of Alderweireld, Wimmer and Trippier.
On the other hand, Spurs have secured two attacking signings as well by luring Clinton Njie from Lyon and South Korean star Son from Bayer Leverkusen.
As the transfer window is reaching its climax, manager Mauricio Pochettino is very eager about signing a complete midfielder and if reports are anything to go by then Tottenham are very close to signing one such star.
Axel Witsel ZenitMetro cite reports in Italy claiming that Tottenham have officially moved in to sign Belgian star Axel Witsel by offering Zenit 18.9 million pounds to hire his services.
As per the provided link, the Russian side are willing to sell him and are very happy with the offer put forward by the White Hart Lane club.
Witsel is a complete midfield star who will surely improve Tottenham’s squad. He can play as a defensive midfielder, a creative central midfielder and also as an attacking midfielder.
The 26-year-old star featured in 42 games for Zenit last season and scored 6 goals. Spurs must waste no time in securing his signature.

Great another defensive player on radar: but no signing? Still need top striker?

Oh, another ‘versatile’ or ‘utility’ player! Great! Just what we need, because our squad is full of them already.
We need someone who is a ‘SPECIALIST for crying out loud’.
Eg. A proper creative midfielder ..not simply someone who can ‘play there’. Also, a proper ‘left winger’ ..not someone who can play there. We need round pegs for round holes, Poch and Levy, and we’ll NEVER get to the level where we want to be unless we bring them in.

Can’t believe I’m reading people moaning about this. I doubt we’ll sign him anyway but if we did he’d improve our midfield straight away. Put him in any of the 3 central positions occupied by say Dier, Bentaleb, Dembele or Mason and he’s an instant upgrade. If you’re going to slate the guy for being able to play anywhere in the midfield, you need to see a Dr as for the life of me I can’t see why versatility would be a problem. You’d rather have a mediocre specialist in a position than a more talented versatile player?
