Liverpool need to sign a versatile midfielder this summer but it seems that they have opted to sign another playmaker instead.
The merseysiders are linked with two quality stars in the form of Asier Illarramendi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. According to reports, the Reds have opted to sign the Dortmund attacker and that move could rule out the transfer for the Spanish midfielder.
As per the provided Telegraph link, Express has broken the news that Liverpool are preparing to discuss personal terms with Mkhitaryan after agreeing 15 million pounds deal with the Bundesliga side to hire his services.
The Reds tried to sign him from Ukrainian club Shakhtar as well but Henrikh opted to join Jurgen Klopp’s side back in 2013.
The 26-year-old star has already netted 7 goals in 5 games this season. Capable of playing as a winger and also as a central attacking midfielder, Mkhitaryan will improve Liverpool’s attack.
It will be fair to say that the Reds do not really need another attacking midfielder after signing Firmino in a deal worth 29 million pounds. The Brazilian star has not started any game yet since joining the club and deserves regular starts to prove himself.
In your opinion, should Liverpool sign Mkhitaryan or Illarramendi?
