Manchester United have been linked with several top defenders this summer and Valencia superstar Otamendi is among them.
The Argentine international was one of the best center backs in the Spanish league last season and helped his team qualify for the Champions League.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man United have won the competition to finally sign Otamendi from La Liga.
Apart from Man United, Real Madrid were keen to secure the signing of the 27 year old South American defender.
However, according to Metro, the Spanish giants have pulled out of the race to sign Otamendi because the Los Blancos believe that Manchester United have already stolen the march and agreed deal to bring star to Old Trafford from Mestalla.
Previously, Mirror reported that Otamendi has expressed his desire to leave Valencia this summer but the Spanish side want the full payment of his release clause i.e. €48.8m. Whether or not United will splash that sum to secure him, only time will tell.
