Tottenham suffered humiliating defeat at the hands of Stoke City at the Brittania Stadium as the Potters beat Spurs 3-0.
For Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, this should be wake up call to act swiftly in the transfer market.
Pochettino dreams of challenging for the title next season but with this current lot, even a top four finish is highly unlikely.
Improvements are required and for that top quality stars must be brought to White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window.
One such star linked with a move to Spurs is Southampton’s versatile star Toby Alderweireld.
According to Mirror, Spurs are moving in pole position to sign the 26 year old former Ajax star. For now, Southampton hold the key to sign the Belgian international who is on loan from Atletico Madrid but the player is well aware that better clubs are interested in him and prefers PL stay as well.
Toby Alderweireld is a flexible player. Back in his Ajax days, he used to play as a holding midfeilder and Spurs are in the market for one.
For Atletico Madrid, he was normally used as a fullback with Godin and Miranda taking central defense and won the La Liga as well.
For Saints, Koeman has used him as a center back. Spurs can benefit largely from such a versatile player and presence of fellow Belgians Chadli, Dembele and mainly Vertonghen can be an added attraction for him.
