Arsenal comfortably defeated Everton at the Emirates Stadium 2-0 to move back into thid place in the Barclays premier league over taking Manchester United.
The Gunners were rattled at home in midweek Champions League game against Monaco and had to bounce back, fortunately for the fans, they did.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky in either half helped Arsenal earn all three points.
Arsene Wenger’s men are now only four points behind champions Manchester City who lost at Anfield yet again and occupy second place for now.
Per Mertesacker was nowhere to be found after his dismal performance against Monaco and was replaced by winter signing Gabriel who performed well versus the Toffees.
Ozil was once again far from his best but his delivery from corner found Giroud to open the scoring for the Gunners.
Rosicky came in the second half in place of Chamberlain and added a late 2nd goal with a deflected shot from outside the box much to the delight of the home supporters.
Cazorla was once again the shining star for Arsenal as he was making the team tick and was not only influential in attack but also supported in midfield and defense.

Chambers came on for Coquelin. Gettingthe basics right would really improve the perception the author has a clue.
Ozil was far from his best… He did miss a great chance; but he also provided the assists on both Arsenal goals. Cazorla, who played well but wasted three good chances and produced zero assists, was twice as good as Ozil… hmmm…. The Clues are in aisle 9.
Gibbs shut down one of the best attacking full backs in England, Seamus Coleman, to earn a 6. Coleman had almost no influence on the game and you thought that was due to magical powers?
Sanchez didn’t score, but he was relentless. His influence on the game is massive in offense, defense, and transition from defense to attack. Again, the clues are in aisle 9.
I do think it’s funny that so many people point out that Sanchez has been scoring less since Ozil came back. They’re wrong. Sanchez has been scoring less since Giroud came back. The passes Sanchez was converting are no going to Giroud, who has been prolific, save for against Monaco.
If you want to rate players, try to get your head out of your backside please.
Ospina – 8; Three massive saves and a much more composed presence.
Gibbbs – 7.5: Shut down Coleman, played more conservatively (probably on orders)
Paulista – 7: Three huge tackles. He’s looking aggressive, quick, and brave. He did have a couple of fairly wretched errors, but overall, he was very good.
Koscielny – 7.5: The usual. Liked the extra professional foul. He wouldn’t have done that a year ago. Much more of a thinking CB this year.
Bellarin – 6/6.5: The weakest performace of all Arsenal defenders. He did produce a brilliant cross that Giroud wasted, but he was also caught out a couple of times too. The Ox bailed him out at least three times.
Coquelin – 6: A journeyman’s performance, but a brave on, as Wenger put it. He made a few incredibly poor passes, but his toughness and athleticism is, on the whole, a positive. Playing on after Giroud smashed his nose show toughness.
Cazorla – 6.5/7: A respectable performance, especially defensively, where he made a few really nice tackles and brought the ball out of the defensive third really well. A number os wasted chances, but a solid professional job by Saint Santi.
Ozil – 7: Wasted a a chance or two, but made both goals.
The Ox – 7: Not influential offensively as he usually is, but he spent a lot of time tracking back and working to help out Bellarin, on the right side of the pitch (not the left)
Sanchez – 8: Relentless, goos passes, pressured the Everton defense, and never gives up. He’s finding goals hard to come by with giroud taking up the space he usually scores in, but his influence is no less for not scoring.
Giroud – 7.5: A couple of misses, including one he really should have scored on, but the key goal and an influential, multifaceted performance.
Subs:
Rosicky – 7 – Based on his goal and two other attacks that pressured Everton. He seems to have a positive effect on the side whenever he’s on.
Welbeck – N/R: Came on late, really had no time to work his way into the flow of the game.
Chambers – N/R: Replaced Le Coq in DM (not right back) late and had no time to really show anything.
Thanks Paul I’m glad you posted what you saw, I saw it exactly like you did!!! How a player sets up both goals gets a 4.5 rating is unbelievable. Mayer some people don’t notice the good passing Ozil does and I also see room for improvement in his game but can some of you give him a break!!!
