Manchester United will not stop spending this summer till they adequately reinforce every department for new manager Louis van Gaal.
Midfield has been the most concerning department last season and for now the Red Devils have lured one versatile midfield star in the form of Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.
However, United also need a solid holding midfielder to strengthen the defensive side of the midfield as well.
Former Manchester City man Nigel De Jong has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Van Gaal wants his compatriot but he is not the only DM linked.
According to reports, Manchester United are set to sign long term midfield target, Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira.
Last summer, under the management of David Moyes Manchester United were interested in luring the Los Blancos star but failed.
Back then, the English giants had a huge bid of €40m rejected for Sami Khedira as Real demanded more for the prized asset.
However, a lot has changed since then. Now as per Spanish source Sport, Manchester United can hire the services of the former Stuttgart man for half the price i.e. €20m.
At the mentioned price tag, Khedira signing will be a major coup. Even though he has been on the treatment table for most part of last season, still his importance was not denied by both club and national manager as after returning, Khedira started the CL final and is an integral part in the Germany World Cup squad.
He is one of the best holding midfielders around and United must act swiftly if they want him at Old Trafford because the latest reports also suggest that Arsenal are after him.
