Manchester United need to sign quality players for their attacking setup this summer but not sure if they really need another striker.
In a 3-4-1-2 system, Louis van Gaal is likely to play Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as the two strikers.
Other than that, the Red Devils also have the Welbeck and for now Hernandez is there although he is heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, according to latest rumors, Manchester United are interested in adding a new versatile forward in the form of Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan international has been linked with United for quite some time as he wishes to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Last season, Cavani scored 25 goals for the French giants but played out wide for most part of the campaign.
However, his preferred position is that of a striker but at PSG, Zlatan Imrahimovic runs the rule and no one can take his place.
Daily Star suggests that according to reports in Uruguay, Manchester United have been in constant negotiations with Cavani’s representative to strike a move.
As per the provided link, United have held transfer talks with the former Napoli striker’s his agent four times and for now they are favorites to sign him.
In other reports, the highly rated striker signed by PSG for a mammoth sum last summer has not gone for the pre-season tour with the squad because of illness.
The strike partnership of Cavani and Robin van Persie will be too mouth watering for the fans but for now the Red Devils need to reinforce more important positions in defense and midfield.

If Edinson Cavani comes.. LVG will use three of them as starters, which players like Shinji Kagawa will be benched, Juan Mata has been a blast at the preseason tour. So for sure he will be used as a starter under LVG along side with Ander Harrerra.
There’s no need for another striker what we need is to see new defenders
I think van gaal is ruthless enough to play cavani van p up front with Rooney in no.10 role behind. Mata bench and kagawa sold. Fergie did treble with 4 top strikers , which are rotatable so think van gaal will do the same bringing mata wellbeck on and Rooney can play up top as well. Van gaal will drop players under performing no matter who!
Obviously we need strengthening in other areas and that will come in c mid and defence but look at real madrid s squad! Competition for places keeps u on your toes
