Real Madrid Review & Ratings vs Atletico – La Decima

Carlo Ancelotti 2014 Champions LeagueReal Madrid finally won their 10th European Cup after 12 years of wait and the Los Blancos did it the hard way.
Atletico Madrid have been brilliant in the defensive department having only conceded 3 in the KO rounds of CL before the final. They did concede 4 in the final but the scoreline was not what they deserve after a brilliant effort.
Casillas’ first half mistake gifted Atletico the lead and Real Madrid had a mountain to climb. Anceliotti made three attacking changes in the second half to pile pressure on their rivals but Simeone’s men defended well.
However, 2 minutes before the final whistle, in injury time, Sergio Ramos lost his marker and headed home from a corner to bring Real level. That was the boost they needed as everyone attached to Atletico was left in shock and perhaps they never recovered from it.
Into extra time and tiredness was obvious for all the players, but Angel Di Maria decided to take on Atletico’s defense on his own and had that energy to go past three players. His shot was saved by Courtois but looping rebound found the world’s most expensive player Gareth Bale in the right place who made no mistake this time after ruining three decent chances in the game.
Spanish champions shifted the resources in attack hence Real had lots of space to manuever and Marcelo and Ronaldo added two more to wrap up a brilliant final.
Ancelotti becomes only the second manager after Liverpool legend Bob Paisley to win three European Cups, the first to win it with 2 separate teams. For now, the players, the fans celebrate but can Real defend the indefensible trophy next season?
Here are Real Madrid Player Ratings vs Atletico.
