If there is one department Manchester United are desperate to reinforce this summer then it is the central midfield.
United have been horrific in midfield last season with the likes of Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverly and big money signing Fellaini failing to perform well.
Hence, the Red Devils have been linked with numerous midfielders. Toni Kroos perhaps topped the chart as per rumors that have been fluctuating to a large extent.
One day, Van Gaal is the catalyst behind Kroos deal, other day, Van Gaal is the one who calls it off and the player also denies interest. Nevertheless, there are other midfield targets apart from Kroos as well.
These include the likes of William Carvalho, Strootman, Vidal and Fabregas.
According to Daily Star, Manchester United are closing in on luring top midfield stars in Vidal and Fabregas this summer.
Vidal is rated around €42m and is currently one of the best players in his position. The Chilean netted 18 times for the Italian giants Juventus last season.
On the other hand, Fabregas is not wanted at Barcelona anymore and the club is looking to sell him to any side who meets his release clause €40m.
The former Arsenal star scored 13 goals and provided 22 assists for Catalan side last season still he is deemed not good enough.
One thing is for sure, United need more than a single player to solve the midfield conundrum. Fans will be anxiously waiting to find out the midfield partnership that Louis van Gaal desires at Manchester United.

Am just too tired of all these transfer saga. Ed Woodward is only an expert in commercial activities for ManUtd. Is one information today, tomorrow is either it is dispelled or you hear the player refutting such news as a rumor. It is better they do thier businesses secretly and concretly before they give thier numerous fans deals that has been completed, sealled and signed. To me, am totally disgusted. They cannot be putting we fans in disarray. If Kroos should go, i will not be happy with athose concerned with our signings, that is it.
