Arsenal Player Ratings vs Southampton – Giroud Stars

Liverpool dropped points against Everton and Arsenal took full advantage by winning their game against Southampton to go 4 points clear at the top of the Barclays premier league.
Although gunners were not all that convincing as they have been at home, still their efforts were enough to ensure 5th consecutive win at the Emirates Stadium.
Southampton have been in fantastic form and as expected gave Arsenal tough time but they are themselves to blame for two costly mistakes that eventually resulted in the loss.
First, out of absolutely nothing, Boruc thought that he had enough time and space to act as if he is Ronaldinho. Few useless turns with the ball allowed Giroud to close in, win the ball and slot it in the empty net to open the scoring.
Second, a needless foul late on Mertesacker gifted Giroud the chance to double the scoring and seal the points for Arsenal from the penalty spot, which the French international did.
English star, Theo Walcott returned from a long term injury to play 20 minutes for the gunners. All positive for Arsenal as once again they strengthened their position at the top.
