Surprised? Arsenal Star Tops Assists Chart but it’s not Ozil

Olivier Giroud of ArsenalGunners are unstoppable at the moment, with just one draw and defeat in 8 premier league games, Arsenal retain their top spot with an emphatic win over Norwich.
German international Mesut Ozil scored his first premier league goals as he netted twice to ensure Arsenal’s victory.
Arsenal’s record signing Ozil is known as the King of Assists, but for now, there is another Arsenal star who tops assists chart of the premier league.
The player in discussion is Olivier Giroud. The most unlikely player, a striker with most assists for now.
Arsenal stars are right up there, Giroud has 4 assists and then Ozil and Ramsey are in second place with 3 assists along with City’s Silva and Everton’s Mirallas.
Giroud tops assists chart

The former Montpellier star provided two assists yesterday as well. Giroud scored 4 goals in the first 4 premier league games but since then has not been able to find the net.
Nevertheless, the assists column shows how important Giroud is to Arsenal’s success. Not only has he turned into a prolific goal getter but also a goal creator.
His build up play is of the highest quality and supports other Arsenal attackers consistently.

Ozil has 4 assists – 1 against Sunderland and 3 against Stoke

I thought the same thing but websites all round say that Giroud has 4 and Ozil 3. May be corners are not counted as assists or we missed any?

    • ranjeet says:

no … one of the assist against stoke was not counted as ball was intercepted. so he did 2 against stoke and 1 against sunderland.

  2. lindo says:

Giroud’s game improved a lot this season, but should be more clinical,he is our striker for goodness sake. But wait, anytime Giroud sets target for himself he finds it hard scorin’,last season he said he did better than v.persie in his debut season & went a longtime not scorin’.Now,after sayin’ he can win Epl golden boot,he hasn’t found the net in the championship,i hope that won’t be the case.
