Arsenal Angle – Cesc Fabregas vs Mesut Ozil

Arsenal fans are more than delighted to sign one of the best playmakers in the world in Ozil but if they had the option to sign Cesc Fabregas, may be they would have signed him instead of Ozil?
Surely fans love Fabregas more as the Spaniard served the club for 8 long years and gunner supporters still want Cesc back at Emirates. He may return one day.
At Arsenal, he was mainly utilized as a center midfielder who normally used to guide the play and win midfield battle. At Barcelona, due to the presence of Xavi at CM, Fabregas has been used as a CM, an attacking midfielder, LM as well as a False No. 9. And he has been productive.
Wenger claimed that as far as he knows, Fabregas will not move this summer, therefore Ozil was the answer, but surely if he was available, Arsenal would have used the clause to sign him. The idea of playing him as an AM is not bad either.
Mesut Ozil is renowned for his sublime final balls. Many of Ronaldo’s goals for Real Madrid were put on the plate for him by the German, no wonder the Portuguese is angry that he departed.
The ability to provide the killer assist pass makes him one of the most dangerous playmakers in the world, hence the price tag of 50 million Euros.
If we compare Cesc and Ozil’s stats. In the past two seasons, Fabregas played 120 games in all competitions, scored no less than 36 goals and provided 42 assists.
On the other hand, Mesut Ozil featured in 122 games in all competitions, scored 18 goals and provided 51 assists.
Both have been equally brilliant and significant for their sides. Ozil can make his place in the hearts of the gunner supporters like Fabregas did but will he be able to prove himself in the premier league like the Spaniard, we shall see.
Arsenal fans will hope that somehow they will sign Fabregas next season. That will be one mouthwatering prospect for the club and its supporters. However, for now they have to focus on ending the long trophy drought.
