Can Chelsea Sign Samba Star for £15million?

The Blues have been linked with numerous defensive midfielders in this transfer window but there has been nothing concrete as yet. The names like, Khedira, De Rossi, Xabi Alonso and former blue Nemanja Matic of Benfica have been linked but still far from signing.
Now Chelsea are interested in another defensive midfielder, Bayern Munich and Brazilian star Luiz Gustavo. Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is ready to bid £15million to lure the talented midfielder to Stamford Birdge. However, the question is Can Chelsea sign Samba star for £15million.
Luiz Gustavo was an influential figure for Bayern Munich last season. Although his performances were bettered by none other than Spaniard Javi Martinez as a defensive midfielder, still Gustavo has been one of the most important players for Bayern in the past two seasons.
Adding to that, the Brazilian played every minute for the national side in their Confederations Cup triumph. Once again the Bayern star was brilliant against the World Champions in the final of the competition.
Mourinho is looking for a quality central defensive midfielder, someone who can sit in front of the back four and break play. Over the years, the Portuguese manager has always included an effective CDM in his lineup for success.
As Mikel seems to be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer and Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien is not getting any youger, a 26 year old Gustavo can be the perfect solution for Chelsea.
However, it is likely that Chelsea are going to fail in their pursuit of signing this Samba star for just £15million. It is likely to be rejected by Bayern Munich and Guardiola if Chelsea’s interest is real. The Blues will have to pay at least an amount above 20 million pounds to sign Gustavo.
