Andrei Arshavin was one of the most in form players at the time when he signed for Arsenal back in 2009. The little Russian had an impressive European Championships in 2008 and attracted interest from major European clubs but Wenger made sure he joins Gunners.
Such was the quality of the Russian international that the Arsenal manager, who normally does not spend in the winter transfer market and always looks to sign young talents splashed a decent sum to sign the 27 year old Andrei Arshavin. It was worth as Arshavin proved fruitful for gunners.
After 4 years at the club, the time has come for Arshavin to continue his career away from Emirates. Arsenal fans will remember him for some real special moments.
That goal against the best team in the world in 2011. by then Arshavin was not a regular starter but came off the bench and showed his class to beat Barcelona with a cool finish that absolutely made Arsenal fans go mental.
Who can forget Arshavin’s four goals haul against Liverpool that too in their own backyard at Anfield in 2009. The little Russian was unstoppable on the night but was not helped by a poor Arsenal defense as the match ended in an exciting 4-4 draw.
Arshavin had 3 successful years at Arsenal but then his growing age and in coming talented youngsters meant that he could not start regularly. Sadly, the Russian could not win a title with Arsenal but will leave the club with all the respect.
