The Samba boys have qualified for third straight Confederations cup final, not to forget they won the last two against Argentina in 2005 and against United States in 2010. Spain and Italy will collide tonight in the second semi to decide who will face Seleccao in the final.
The Brazilians dominated possession throughout the game as Uruguay could not find much space to build play effectively.
In early stages, Seleccao threatened the South American champions. However, against the run of play Uruguay were the first one to get clear goal scoring chance via penalty. David Luiz dragged captain Lugano inside the box and referee spotted that to award a deserved penalty.
Who else but Uruguay’s iconic player Diego Forlan stepped up to take the spot kick but much to his despair the penalty was brilliantly saved by Julio Cesar.
Brazil kept on piling pressure in the first half and were rewarded in the 41st minute when Neymar set himself up with a sublime chest control and his shot was deflected in the path of Fred who made no mistake in slotting the ball home.
Coming back in the second half, Uruguay were always going to step up and they started attacking Brazil from the word go. In the 48th minute, Brazil failed to clear their lines as the ball fell sweetly for Cavani to take advantage.
Although, the Napoli striker has had a torrid time for the national side in the competition; still he is one of the best finishers around and showed quality to equalize.
The game continued with Brazil dominating play but no side created a clear cut scoring chance. Liverpool star Luis Suarez could not really show his brilliance on the field as well.
Brazil created majority of the opportunities but Uruguay’s defense was up to the task and cleared the threat. However, perhaps they fell asleep in the 85th minute when Paulinho was poorly marked or perhaps left unmarked as he rose highest to head the ball in.
Uruguay utilized all resources in attack but time eventually won the race. Spain are favorites for today’s second semi and a Brazil vs Spain final will surely be an exciting contest to witness.

Didn’t get the chance to watch last night unfortunately. Sounds like Brazil are looking like a confident and capable side once again. Good report.
