Fernando Torres has been in the limelight lately and his departure from Chelsea looks highly likely. The Blues are chasing the signature of Napoli’s hitman Cavani and Torres will not like a bench role at Stamford Bridge.
Reports suggest that Barcelona are linked with the Spaniard and want to use him as an impact sub, however that move may not go through as Torres will not trade Chelsea’s bench for Barca’s bench as he wants first team football for sure. A better option may as well be Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger reportedly wants the former Liverpool superstar according to Sports Direct News. Their source close to Arsenal claims:
“The boss loves Torres. He knows how good he can be, and a deal could come off.”
“Chelsea are looking at strikers, Fernando has become surplus to requirements and Arsene is ready to pounce.”
The reason our title suggests that Arsenal want former Liverpool star is because surely Wenger would want the form of his days wearing Red and not Blue. However, we all know that Torres’s best days are long gone.
Wenger has been a long term admirer of Torres and he tried to sign the Spaniard from Atletico but the Torres preferred Liverpool. Gunners have been poor at finishing last season despite creating many chances and may be, just may be Torres can fit in Arsenal to finish those chances.
Torres has been a frustrating figure for the Blues especially in the premier league as Chelsea’s playing style never suited him. On the other hand, Arsenal’s playing style may as well suit him more.
The Spaniard will cost around 15 million pounds. Will Wenger be willing to splash the cash to lure him to Emirates? Will Torres be interested in a move to Arsenal? Only time will tell.
