Why Benitez is a Perfect Option for Real Madrid

Why Benitez is a Perfect Option for Real MadridJose Mourinho signaled his exit from Real Madrid after once again losing out in the semi finals of the Champions league, this time against Dortmund. Mou is likely to go back and join Chelsea while Blues’s current manager Benitez may replace the Portuguese at Madrid.
The Special One has not been as dominating with Real Madrid as he was at Chelsea and Inter Milan. Los Blancos are still second to Barcelona and failure to win the Decima will hurt him the most. If he does depart then here is why Benitez can be the perfect option for Real Madrid.
Although Benitez did join Mourinho’s former clubs and failed to shine after leaving Liverpool in 2010, still the former Champions League winner might just be the man that fulfills the criteria at Real Madrid as far as his resume is concerned.

Benitez European Record

The club and its supporters are desperate for the much-awaited 10th Champions League crown. Mourinho was expected to end that wait but could only come close to the final on three occasions.
Rafa is a specialist when it comes to European competitions, his record with Valencia, Liverpool and now Chelsea are the best examples. He won the UEFA Cup with Valencia, everyone remembers the miracle of Istanbul with Liverpool in 2005 Champions League Final and the reds reached two finals and a semi-final beating the best of clubs in his first 4 years at Merseyside.
At Inter Milan, Benitez’s side did qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League but he was sacked half way through the season. Lastly, Chelsea have one foot in Europa League final after their 2-1 victory against Basel and are considered favorites to lift the title.
Yes, Benitez has been really inconsistent and at times poor in the league after leaving Valencia but his European record is no less than brilliant. Not to forget, Rafa did cast his European spell over Mourinho twice in the semifinals of the Champions league in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Therefore, in chase of La Decima, the return of Benitez can be a fantastic option for Real Madrid.

Benitez League Record

As mentioned, his league record has not been as prolific as in Europe still that has only been the case out of Spain. Benitez was one of the best managers or perhaps the best manager during his time in Spain with Valencia.
In his 3 year tenure at Mestalla, Rafa won 2 La Liga titles i.e. in 2002 and 2004 respectively. He remains the last manager to have won the Spanish league with a side other than the giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Not to forget, Benitez won his la liga crowns in the era of Galacticos that included the likes of Zidane, Figo and co who were the last group of players to win the Champions League for Los Blancos in 2002.
Adding to that, another major point is that the level of competition in the Spanish league was bigger than what it is now regarded as a two horse race and with a quality squad at disposal, Benitez may as well do wonders with Real Madrid.
For now, the Chelsea manager will be focusing on finishing the season in top 4 and winning the Europa League title that may as well add weight to his chances of joining Real Madrid.
