Liverpool do not need Villa, Villa does not need Liverpool

Liverpool do not need Villa, Villa does not need LiverpoolMirror reported that Liverpool are interested in signing the veteran Barcelona striker David Villa to reinforce their attack next season. However, the move is highly unlikely as Liverpool do not need Villa and at the same time Villa does not need Liverpool as well.
Rumors that Rodgers is interested in signing proven talent might be right but that can be done by signing young players as well. Then again signing a 31 year old forward is surely against the transfer policy of FSG. Adding to that their pay structure does not favor such a move as well.
Villa is only playing a bit-part role with Barcelona these days having only started 13 league games for the Catalan side. Surely he will be interested to move for first team football as Barca will look for his replacement in summer.
The former Valencia man is still by all means a top quality striker and will draw interest from major European clubs. Arsenal were interested in signing the Spanish international in January but the deal did not happen then. For Villa, he will want to feature in the Champions League next season and that is not possible with Liverpool.
Moreover, Spain already have an immensely talented squad and to perform at the top level is really significant for Villa to stand any chance of featuring in what will be his last World Cup at the age of 32.
On the other hand, Liverpool are scoring goals for fun this year and have loads of talent up front including the likes of Luis Suarez, Sturridge and the wonder boy Coutinho. Adding to that, Rodgers strongly believes that summer singing Fabio Borini will come good and the lad deserves a fair chance as he has spent most of his season on the treatment table.
The Reds will be more worried about their defensive setup next season as Carragher will not be there anymore and never know if they have to look for a new goalie if Pepe Reina departs who is constantly linked elsewhere.
Despite the brilliant clean sheet stats, Liverpool have conceded more goals than last season under Dalglish and they need a rock solid defense to back their flowing attacking football and turn the draws into wins.
Liverpool were also interested in signing David Villa when Torres and Benitez were at Merseyside. They might have needed him then but there are different concerns now.
