Can Manchester United Lure La Liga’s Best Defender?

Can Manchester United Lure La Liga’s Best Defender?Manchester United are linked with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane lately but can they lure the defender against all odds. Varane has been a revelation this season, by far the best defender in Madrid’s squad or perhaps even in La liga right now.
The 19 year old boy has earned the starting place at one of the best clubs in the world thanks to his brilliant performances against European Giants like United and Barcelona. Even the most experienced of strikers have found it hard playing against an in form Varane.
With Jose Mourinho rumored to be leaving the Spanish champions at the end of this season, numerous Los Blancos stars are also linked elsewhere such as the likes of Xabi Alonso and the main talisman Cristiano Ronaldo. Reports suggest that perhaps Varane is now in that list as well.
Manchester United have had defensive problems this season as they conceded in every other game in the early stages of the season only to be saved by their magnificent attack. United have earned more points from losing positions than any other team in the league.
The Red Devils are frustrated with the persisting injury problems of their captain Nemanja Vidic and may look to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.
Adding to that, they don’t have depth when it comes to central defenders as well. Rio Ferdinand is still effective but he is not getting any younger. On the other hand, Jonny Evans is by no means a top quality defender either.
In such a scenario Alex Ferguson will look to sign a top quality defender and Varane is surely one of the best around. However, the defender will easily cost United around 25 odd million as even Madrid bought the young starlet for 14 million from Lens and his fantastic form has added a few $$$ to his price.
Nevertheless, Raphael Varane is worth every penny and is deservedly rated that high in the market. United may as well be seriously interested to sign the young talent but it is not that easy as Varane is quite content with life at Real Madrid and even Madrid  will be reluctant to sell their prized asset. If the deal does not go through, United will have to look for other options to fix the central defense dilemma.

I honestly think we cannot sign him-No one can for now. He is still a boy and settled well in Madrid.will think about leaving in a few years but not now

Sorry man but United in for Varane? He’ll be a Real player for years to come and is going no-where, it’s senior players that’ll be moving on like Pepe to make room. And United lack depth in defense? They do at full back but even if they lose Vidic they’ll have Ferdinand, Jones, Smalling and Evans with Michael Keane as a promising young defender and Carrick also able to slot in for emergencies. They have so many CB options it’s unbelievable, no way they’d splash the £20m needed for Varane when they need a CM rebuild so badly
