Dortmund Must Keep Stars to Compete With Bayern

Dortmund Must Keep Stars to Compete With BayernBayern eliminate reigning champions Dortmund from DFB Pokal to qualify for the semi finals of the competition. The Bavarians completely dominated the opposition and the difference in quality was easily visible.
Bayern are getting stronger every year and Dortmund just cannot compete with them if they do not strengthen and above all lose stars. Even though last year Munich had a quality squad that reached the final of the champions league but Dortmund had the upper hand in the country as they beat Munich to Bundesliga and DFB Pokal title.
This season, Bayern have added numerous talented players to the squad and have surpassed Dortmund by some distance. The multimillion signings of Javi Martinez, Mario Mandzukic and Shaqiri have made them a fierce force in not only Germany but also in the continent.
Bayern Munich are strong contenders to go one better this season and win UEFA Champions League. They may even complete the treble as they are far ahead in the league campaign and favorites to win the Cup as well.
Reigning German champions Dortmund are second in the league and astonishingly a massive 17 points behind Bayern Munich, such is the difference in quality and class between them this season that was not there last year.
Yes, Dortmund cannot compete with Bayern financially but they are a top European club and attract quality players. Still, Dortmund let their star players leave every year, which is in turn detrimental for the club.
In 2011, they sold Bundesliga player of the year Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid. Although he is back with the side but still needs to gain his form back. Then, last summer Dortmund sold key playmaker in Japanese Shinji Kagawa to Manchester United and for worst, now their star striker Robert Lewandowski is heavily linked elsewhere as well.
If Dortmund carry on with this trend of losing key star players then Bayern will surely be out of sight soon and also that may lead to further decline in the league/continent as well. To sum it all, Dortmund must increase quality to compete with the best and that process starts at first by not losing their own stars.
